Basketball Recap: Thousand Oaks Skates Past Calabasas with Ease

Thousand Oaks hadn't done well against Calabasas recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Thousand Oaks Lancers took their contest with ease, bagging a 70-20 win over the Calabasas Coyotes. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Coyotes are ranked 586th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thousand Oaks got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Seeger out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Seeger is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dori Lawrence, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and five steals.

When it comes to explaining why Calabasas lost, don't look at Scarlett Weiner. Despite the final result, she scored nine points.

Thousand Oaks has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Calabasas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Thousand Oaks beat Calabasas by a score of 78-45 on Monday.
