Softball Game Preview: Hayden Lobos vs. Joseph City Wildcats

Hayden hasn't had much luck against Joseph City recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lobos are taking a road trip to take on the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hayden is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against San Manuel by a score of 13-8. The game was the first time the Lobos have beaten the Miners on their field since April 10, 2018.

Meanwhile, Joseph City waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over the Wildkats. Considering the Wildcats have won 19 matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory was also the third in a row for Hayden, bringing their record up to 13-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Joseph City, their record is now 25-4.

Hayden suffered a grim 20-1 defeat to Joseph City when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lobos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
