Basketball Recap: Tytiana Dowden Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Triton

Westover won the last time they faced Triton and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Westover Wolverines came out on top against the Triton Hawks by a score of 46-34. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Hawks are ranked 368th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tytiana Dowden led the charge by putting up 18 points. Those 18 points gave Dowden a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty'Asia Carr, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Triton lost, don't look at Nashara McNeil-Watlington. Despite the final result, she had 14 points.

Westover now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Triton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.

Westover didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-40 win against Overhills on the 31st. As for Triton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-62 loss against Western Harnett on the 31st.
