Football Recap: Kennedy Starts Season with Win Against Pacifica

Kennedy took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. Everything went their way against the Pacifica Mariners as they made off with a 35-13 victory. The Fighting Irish have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mariners, too.

Mahseiah Banks had a dynamite game, picking up 145 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Those four receiving touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Derek Almazan, who threw for 170 yards and four TDs.

Another reason for the win was Kennedy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Steven Aldapa and Rocco Street, who each picked up one sack apiece. Kennedy received some extra help from Banks, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Looking ahead, Kennedy will head out to square off against Woodbridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pacifica, they will square off against Garden Grove at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
