Softball Game Preview: Dadeville Bearcats vs. Montrose Blue Jays

The Dadeville Bearcats will face off against the Montrose Blue Jays at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Dadeville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Montrose's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, Dadeville came up short against Norwood and fell 7-2. The Bearcats have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Montrose can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They never let Humansville get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Jays, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kelsey Carter was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Carter was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Montrose got a massive performance out of Lainee Swaters, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Swaters has posted since back in October of 2024. Kristin Poole was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

Montrose always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Having lost for the first time this season, Dadeville fell to 4-1. As for Montrose, their record is now 14-8.

Dadeville skirted past Montrose 3-1 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Do the Bearcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Jays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
