Basketball Recap: Broken Bow Indians vs. Amherst Broncos
Broken Bow was the 59-30 winner over Amherst when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians fell 39-34 to the Broncos on Tuesday. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Broken Bow still got an impressive performance from Charlee Myers, who posted 14 points.
Amherst's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Libby Mitchell, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Mitchell a new career-high. Addy Simmons was another key player, putting up three points along with 15 boards, six assists, and four steals.
Broken Bow now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Amherst, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Looking ahead, Broken Bow will head out to challenge Minden at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Amherst, they will square off against Loomis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Broncos their first taste of in-conference action this season.
