Basketball Recap: Penn Cambria Panthers vs. Somerset Eagles

The Penn Cambria Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Somerset 72-40 at home. The win was just what Penn Cambria needed coming off of a 59-37 defeat in their prior matchup.

Penn Cambria got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabelle Andersen out in front who scored 15 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Saleme, who scored ten points.

Despite the loss, Somerset saw an underclassman step up: Eve Housley scored 24 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 60% of Somerset's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Reagan Holmes was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 13 rebounds and two steals.

Penn Cambria's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Somerset, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Penn Cambria will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bisons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bedford is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Somerset, they will head out on the road to square off against the Red Devils at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Central Cambria presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in Pennsylvania (the Red Devils are ranked 147th, while the Eagles are ranked 535th).
