Volleyball Recap: Cotopaxi Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Cotopaxi was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Sierra Grande on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates fell just short of the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Thunderbirds from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Cotopaxi actually scored more points across those five sets (106-103), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 15-11.

Hayden Eggleston paced Cotopaxi's offense, picking up 22 kills. Eggleston got some help from Illiana Herrera and her 13 assists. Eggleston also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Sophie Eggleston, each putting up five.

Cotopaxi's defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9. As for Sangre de Cristo, the win snapped their losing streak at six matches and leaves them with a 7-14 record.

Looking ahead, Cotopaxi is taking a road trip to challenge Mountain Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Sangre de Cristo, they will welcome Sierra Grande on Tuesday.
