Recap: Rockmart Yellowjackets vs. North Murray Mountaineers
The Rockmart Yellowjackets waltzed into Friday's matchup with six straight wins but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Murray 59-7 at home. Rockmart might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six games by 31 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rockmart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brent Washington, who rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Washington was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. Nahzir Turner was another key contributor, rushing for 123 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why North Murray lost, one person who can't be blamed is Judson Petty. Despite the final result, he picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Rockmart's win was their third straight at home , which pushed their record up to 8-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 47.67 points. As for North Murray, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Rockmart will play host again and welcome Washington, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on November 11th. Washington comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for North Murray, they will head out on the road to face off against South Atlanta at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
