Agape Christian had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-9 to make it four. They came up short against the Crab Orchard Trojans, falling 17-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-10 back in April.
Aidan Bullock and Joey Restivo did some serious damage despite the final result: Bullock went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Restivo went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Bullock has hit this season.
As for Crab Orchard, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On Crab Orchard's side, Bentley Cameron made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cameron has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Crab Orchard: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-14 otherwise.
In other batting news, Mason Hilliard was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Crab Orchard's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-15 when he doesn't). Brody Watts was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Agape Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crab Orchard, they will challenge Gallatin County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
