Football Recap: Harlingen South Takes a Loss

If Harlingen South was riding high fresh off their 63-0 takedown of Donna North last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Harlingen South lost, don't look at Austen Shroyer. Despite the final result, he rushed for 121 yards on only 14 carries, and also threw for 220 yards while completing 75% of his passes.

Ethan Guerra produced another solid effort rushing for 327 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North. Guerra's longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards. Daren Garcia was another key player, throwing for 112 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Harlingen South suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
