Soccer Recap: Irvine Comes Up Short

Irvine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the California Condors. While losing is never fun, Irvine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 648th, while California are ranked 171st).

Irvine's loss dropped their record down to 2-7-2. As for California, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Irvine will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pacifica Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for California, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against El Rancho on the 20th.
