Softball Recap: Kennedy Comes Up Short

Kennedy had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 5-13-1 to make it four. They lost 15-3 to the Peak to Peak Pumas. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pumas this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in September.

As for Peak to Peak, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-13. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by ten runs or more this season.

For Peak to Peak's part, Karina Lefort made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Lefort has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Peyton Eckert and Evelyn Kraft did most of the damage at the plate: Eckert went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Kraft went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Eckert a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haley Haskins, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Kennedy will challenge Arvada at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Peak to Peak, they will take on The Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pumas' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
