Softball Recap: Douglas County Huskies vs. Rock Canyon Jaguars

Douglas County extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping them down to 7-16. They came up short against the Rock Canyon Jaguars, falling 14-1. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 12-0 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Rock Canyon, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

For Rock Canyon's part, Kennedi Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Martinez has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Avery Cochran was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in August. Lucy Longmire was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

As of now, neither Douglas County nor Rock Canyon have any future games scheduled.
