Softball Recap: Yutan-Mead Has No Trouble Against Aquinas

Yutan-Mead barely beat Aquinas the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots put the hurt on the Monarchs with a sharp 10-1 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won seven in a row.

Jersey Siske spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Yutan-Mead let Jenna Trent and Beth Brennan run wild. Trent went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Brennan went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Trent has posted since back in September of 2024.

Yutan-Mead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aquinas only posted a batting average of .217.

Yutan-Mead's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Aquinas, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yutan-Mead will square off against Bishop Neumann at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Aquinas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fillmore Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
