Softball Recap: Upson-Lee Gets the Win

Upson-Lee's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Crawford County Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Eagles back in August, they had to take a 6-0 defeat.

Brooklyn McDaniel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anna Dean, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carsen Barfield, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

Upson-Lee's win bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Crawford County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upson-Lee will welcome Mary Persons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Crawford County, they will host Northside at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
