Taylor took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the First Academy Eagles 72-70. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since December 9, 2024.

Christian Nichols went supernova, putting up 23 points and seven steals. James Thomas was another key player, going 5-for-12 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Despite the defeat, First Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caleb Busby shot 40% from the field en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miquel Antonio Boque Echavez, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Taylor will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against International Community at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. As for First Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-26 victory against St. John Lutheran on the 20th.
