Softball Recap: Northgate Wins Going Away Against Whitewater

Northgate won the last time they faced Whitewater and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Vikings were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ella Coburn tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last seven contests.

On the hitting side, Ella Grace Kramer was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Trinity Hargrett was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.

Northgate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Northgate and bumps their season record up to 20-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Whitewater, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8.

Coming up, Northgate will square off against East Coweta at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 2.9, the Indians 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Whitewater, they will take on Mary Persons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
