Basketball Recap: Banning Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

Banning had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Carson Colts 49-26. This was a revenge game for the Pilots: when they faced off against the Colts back in January, they had to take a 46-30 defeat.

Banning's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melony Bernabe, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 10 points along with six boards and four steals. Bernabe is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lluviastar Hernandez, who went 5-for-7 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds.

Banning was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Banning pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points over those games. As for Carson, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-11.
