Soccer Game Preview: Villa Park vs. Pacifica

Villa Park is 3-0 against Pacifica since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Villa Park Spartans will be playing at home against the Pacifica Mariners at 1:00 p.m. Villa Park's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Villa Park fell victim to Canyon and their airtight defense last Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comanches. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Comanches are ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, Pacifica also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell just short of Newport Harbor by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that the Mariners have lost by just one goal.

This is the second loss in a row for Pacifica and nudges their season record down to 3-5-1. As for Villa Park, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Villa Park skirted past Pacifica 1-0 in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Will Villa Park repeat their success, or does Pacifica have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
