Surry Central has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the West Wilkes Blackhawks at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Surry Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Surry Central pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of South Stokes by a score of 66-63. While losing is never fun, Surry Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while South Stokes is ranked eighth).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ayden Wilmoth, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Mason Jewell, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, West Wilkes pushed their score all the way to 63 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Wilkes.
Surry Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for West Wilkes, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
