Basketball Recap: GALA Takes a Loss

If GALA was riding high fresh off their 43-12 takedown of Dorsey last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The GALA Goddesses were beaten by the Crenshaw Cougars 78-30 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Goddesses in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

GALA's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leland Holleman, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amol Varma, who put up 11 points.

Leading Crenshaw to victory were Jada Kindle and Jaida Floyd. Kindle dropped a double-double on 31 points and 22 boards, while Floyd went 7 for 14 en route to 22 points along with six assists and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kindle has scored at least a third of Crenshaw's points. Another player making a difference was Talita Robinson, who earned nine points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

GALA's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Crenshaw, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-7.

GALA didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-27 loss against King/Drew on the 29th. Crenshaw has also already played their next game, a 70-44 defeat against George Washington Prep on the 29th.
