Football Recap: Ridge Spring-Monetta Keeps Blackville-Hilda's Under Pressure

If Ridge Spring-Monetta was riding high fresh off their 35-0 takedown of Whitmire last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans took a 25-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks on Friday. The Trojans have struggled against the Fighting Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Even if they lost, Ridge Spring-Monetta's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Kamareon Andrews refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Blackville-Hilda's side was Andrews, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made eight total tackles (2.5 for loss).

Ridge Spring-Monetta suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 2-4. As for Blackville-Hilda, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Ridge Spring-Monetta will face off against Williston-Elko at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Blackville-Hilda, they will take on Wagener-Salley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Hawks will be up against the War Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
