Basketball Recap: Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North Skates Past Ballou with Ease

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Ballou on Saturday. The Tigers breezed past the Knights to the tune of 69-30. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 34 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Amir Morton, who went 7-for-10 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Joshua Owolabi, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ballou only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Ryheem Benton and Isaih Williams certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Benton had seven points and five rebounds, while Williams scored eight points.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ballou, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North and Laurel will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ballou, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Friendship Collegiate Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 3, 2026.
