Basketball Preview: Ridgeview Wolf Pack vs. Bakersfield Drillers
Ridgeview is 2-8 against the Drillers since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Ridgeview Wolf Pack will be playing at home against the Bakersfield Drillers at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Ridgeview lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a rough 65-35 loss at the hands of Bakersfield Christian. While losing is never fun, Ridgeview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while the Eagles are ranked 162nd).
Meanwhile, Bakersfield struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (the Falcons had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bakersfield was beaten by the Falcons 56-28. Bakersfield has struggled against the Falcons recently, as their match on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Bakersfield got a solid performance out of Justice McCollum, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McCollum has scored all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Ridgeview and nudges their season record down to 11-11. As for Bakersfield, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Ridgeview strolled past the Drillers in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 54-38. Does Ridgeview have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Drillers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
