Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Grove Saints vs. Riverdale Raiders

For the second straight game, Cedar Grove will face off against Riverdale. The Saints will venture away from home to square off against the Raiders at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cedar Grove has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Riverdale will arrive with seven straight victories.

Cedar Grove lost 17-2 to Riverdale on Friday.

For Riverdale's part, Tristan Ford was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Rapheal Carr, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Ford wasn't the only one making solid contact: Riverdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for the Raiders: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.6.

Riverdale's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Cedar Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
