Basketball Recap: Polytechnic Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

While Polytechnic didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 40-30 victory over the Apple Valley Sun Devils on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers who have now won four contests in a row.

Polytechnic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maggie Scholze, who posted 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Scholze is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Areni Ohanian, who had nine points.

Apple Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Simran Ahluwalia, who posted 11 points, and Isabelle Cornejo, who put up two points along with 12 boards, three steals, and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Cornejo a new career-high in steals.

Polytechnic's record is now 6-2. As for Apple Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Polytechnic Panthers duke it out with the Westridge Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Polytechnic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season. As for Apple Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-26 victory against Jurupa Hills on the 9th.
