Capistrano Valley never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over the Cypress Centurions. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Capistrano Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Talon Spencer, who threw for 126 yards and two TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also caught one touchdown. Another rusher making a difference was Abel Gherasin, who gained 76 total yards and two touchdowns.

Capistrano Valley's defense stepped up as well, laying out Xavier Guerrero three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Damon Epstein, Noah Eidenmuller, and Mauricio Linares, who each picked up one sack apiece. Capistrano Valley got some further help from Epstein: he picked up a sack, made eight total tackles (4.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Capistrano Valley pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points on average over those games. As for Cypress, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.
