Football Recap: Phillip Carrasco's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Odessa over Midland

Odessa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 45-21 to the Midland Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bronchos of the 54-21 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Odessa's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Phillip Carrasco, who threw for 253 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one rushing score. 133 of Carrasco's passing yards were hauled in by Aramis 'Bo' Rodriguez, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Odessa's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Midland, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

Odessa has already played their next game, a 47-6 loss against Frenship on the 24th. As for Midland, they will square off against San Angelo Central at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Bobcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
