Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vinita). They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Oklahoma Union Cougars on Saturday. The Hornets not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since August 22, 2024 (when they won 17-1).
Jaidyn Bartley was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was CC Carter, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Vinita always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory (which was Vinita's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Oklahoma Union, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vinita will take on Chelsea at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Oklahoma Union, they will welcome Wyandotte at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
