Softball Game Preview: Marquette Defenders vs. East Buchanan Buccaneers

The Marquette Defenders will head out to challenge the East Buchanan Buccaneers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marquette has three straight wins, East Buchanan has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Marquette's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Easton Valley. The result was nothing new for the Defenders, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, East Buchanan came up short against Central City on Thursday, falling 9-3.

East Buchanan's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Marquette, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Marquette suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to East Buchanan in their previous meeting back in June of 2024. Can the Defenders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
