Basketball Recap: Muir Find Success

While Muir didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-25), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They slipped by the San Gabriel Matadors 43-42 on Friday. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Mustangs were down 22-6 in the second quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Muir to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dilynn Long, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Sanchez, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Muir's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-1. As for San Gabriel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Muir will venture away from home to square off against Baldwin Park at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Gabriel, they will head out to face off against Rosemead at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
