Basketball Recap: Burroughs Takes a Loss

Burroughs's tournament run continued when they took on Roosevelt on Thursday. The Burroughs Burros took a blow against the Roosevelt Mustangs, falling 58-29. The contest marked the Burros' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Burroughs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jhavmine Ave, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 14 points and six boards. Ave is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyla Baird, who posted nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Burroughs and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Roosevelt, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Burroughs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-41 victory against Temescal Canyon on the 27th. As for Roosevelt, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-48 defeat against Flintridge Prep on the 27th.
