Baseball Game Preview: Reading Memorial Rockets vs. Belmont Marauders

The Reading Memorial Rockets will challenge the Belmont Marauders at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Reading Memorial 1.9, Belmont 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Belmont will be up against a hot Reading Memorial squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Rockets' pitcher stepped up to hand Woburn Memorial a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rockets have posted since April 24th.

The result came thanks to Andrew Wright's shutout, as he gave up just two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaac Robinson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Sam Clark was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Belmont suffered their closest loss since April 28, 2025 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Winchester by a score of 6-4.

Belmont dropped their record down to 9-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Reading Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 16-2.

Reading Memorial skirted past Belmont 3-2 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
