Football Recap: Patton Takes a Loss

Patton fell victim to East Rutherford and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 35-0 defeat at the hands of the Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 379th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 146th).

Brandon Pinkerton had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 196 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.2 yards per carry for East Rutherford. Pinkerton's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 114 rushing yards. Jason Arrowood was another key player, picking up 116 receiving yards and two scores.

Patton is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. As for East Rutherford, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Looking ahead, Patton will be playing at home against Hibriten at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Patton will need to watch out since Hibriten has now posted at least 31 points in their last seven matchups. As for East Rutherford, they will venture away from home to square off against East Burke at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Pinkerton and Ossie Burkeen.
