Baseball Recap: Newport Cubs vs. Cascade Cougars

Newport had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 7-20 to make it five. They fell 9-5 to the Cascade Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-0 defeat on Wednesday.

Ryder Hockema put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
