Preview: Fresno Christian Eagles vs. Sierra Chieftains
The Fresno Christian Eagles will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Sierra Chieftains at 5:30 p.m. Fresno Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1040th, while Sierra is ranked 342nd).
Fresno Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 58-37 defeat at the hands of Fowler.
Despite the loss, Fresno Christian saw an underclassman step up: Sarah Guglielmana dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. Guglielmana is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Pascual, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Sierra put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 64-15 victory over Liberty at home. With Sierra ahead 40-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Fresno Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Sierra, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
Fresno Christian took a serious blow against Sierra in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 88-36. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Fresno Christian was down 46-22.
