Softball Recap: Briarfield Academy Triumphs

While Briarfield Academy's victory against Claiborne Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Briarfield Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over Claiborne Academy on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for Briarfield Academy in their matchups with Claiborne Academy: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Maggie Frith, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Claire Payne, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Briarfield Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Briarfield Academy now has a winning record of 2-1.

Briarfield Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Claiborne Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central School at 5:00 p.m. on August 19.
