Laurel is 7-2 against Fergus since October of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Locomotives will venture away from home to square off against the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Laurel's defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so Fergus' offense will have their work cut out for them.

Laurel is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Billings Central Catholic, who was ranked first at the time (Laurel was ranked fourth). The Locomotives had to suffer through a 35-0 loss at the hands of the Rams. The Locomotives haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Fergus two weeks ago. They were the clear victors by a 46-20 margin over Dawson County. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Laurel better keep an eye on Colton Blumhardt. He was instrumental in Fergus' win, rushing for 54 yards and one TD.

Fergus' record now sits at 3-0. As for Laurel, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Laurel strolled past Fergus in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a score of 21-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Locomotives since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
