Basketball Game Preview: Clarion Area Bobcats vs. Kane Wolves

Clarion Area hasn't had much luck against Kane recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Clarion Area Bobcats will challenge the Kane Wolves at 7:30 p.m.

Clarion Area is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 61-33 loss at the hands of Clarion-Limestone. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 579th, while the Lions are ranked 282nd).

Meanwhile, everything went Kane's way against Ridgway on Wednesday as Kane made off with a 54-31 victory. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Clarion Area better focus on containing Addison Haight and Isabella Saf as the pair were huge in Kane's win. Haight went 8 for 17 en route to 23 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Saf posted 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Haight's evening made it 15 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Alexa Olmstead was another key player, putting up two points and three blocks.

Kane's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 18.2 points. As for Clarion Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Clarion Area came up short against Kane when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 47-35. Can Clarion Area avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
