Softball Game Preview: Bethlehem Christian Academy Knights vs. Ridgeland Panthers

The Bethlehem Christian Academy Knights will challenge the Ridgeland Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Ridgeland will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Bethlehem Christian Academy extended their winning streak to four on Saturday. The Knights came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against North Murray. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.

Audry Torres made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rockie Sapp, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Belle Germaine, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Ridgeland hadn't done well against Coahulla Creek recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Colts 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Colts since September 29, 2022.

Jordyn Thomas was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of JaMiah Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Bethlehem Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Ridgeland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
