Football Game Preview: Alleghany Trojans vs. North Wilkes Vikings

The Alleghany Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the North Wilkes Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Alleghany will be strutting in after a win while North Wilkes will be coming in after a loss.

Alleghany will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Wilkes Central, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Trojans blew past the Eagles 42-6 on Friday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

Alleghany's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John LeMasters, who rushed for 70 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 55 yards and one TD. Aiden Love was in the mix as well, providing the Trojans with two scores.

Meanwhile, North Wilkes played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Starmount, falling 35-13. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

North Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Alleghany, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Alleghany lost to North Wilkes on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
