Football Recap: Jourden Hickerson and Cooper Babin Secure Win for St. Amant

The matchup between St. Amant and Prairieville on Friday hardly resembled the 21-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Gators put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 49-24 victory. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won three matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.

St. Amant was led to victory by Cooper Babin and Jourden Hickerson. Babin threw for 227 yards and two TDs, while Hickerson rushed for 116 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Although Prairieville took the loss, they still got scores from Skyler Kelly and Tahj Wallace.

The win made it two in a row for St. Amant and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for Prairieville, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. St. Amant will face off against Denham Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gators will need to watch out since the Yellowjackets have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games. As for Prairieville, they will challenge St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.11 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
