Basketball Recap: Buena Park Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Buena Park had won three straight road games and Gloria Barrera did her part to make it four on Wednesday. The Buena Park Coyotes claimed a resounding 81-47 win over the Temescal Canyon Titans thanks in part to Barrera, who went 12 of 18 on her way to 32 points and eight rebounds. The game was her 19th in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Mya Barnes, who went 6 for 14 en route to 14 points along with seven boards and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Despite the loss, Temescal Canyon had strong showings from Sarai Kamweru, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, and Ahmani Browder, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine assists. That was a full 48.9% of Temescal Canyon's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Buena Park has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Temescal Canyon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-13.

Buena Park wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 80-52 victory against Segerstrom on the 30th. Temescal Canyon has also already played their next game, an 80-38 defeat against San Jacinto on the 31st.
