Basketball Game Preview: Archangels Catholic Defenders vs. St. Mary's Cardinals

Having just played yesterday, the Archangels Catholic Defenders will jump right back in to play the St. Mary's Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Archangels Catholic is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Archangels Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-59 victory over Stuart. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Defenders have posted since February 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's entered their tilt with Silver Lake on Thursday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They enjoyed a cozy 50-34 victory over the Mustangs.

St. Mary's found their leader in sophomore Logan Brabec, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. That's the most boards Brabec has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Hedstrom, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Archangels Catholic's win bumped their record up to 19-6. As for St. Mary's, their victory bumped their record up to 22-5.

Archangels Catholic strolled past St. Mary's in their previous matchup back in March of 2021 by a score of 56-39. Does Archangels Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Mary's turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
