Basketball Recap: El Camino Takes a Loss

El Camino easily dispatched Dixon last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The El Camino Eagles fell just short of the Rosemont Wolverines by a score of 51-49 on Wednesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why El Camino lost, don't look at Calista Wold. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards. Wold is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Marissa Stevenson, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, El Camino was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Rosemont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keilani Takehara led the charge by putting up 12 points along with five assists and five steals. Myra Miles was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.

El Camino now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Rosemont, they moved to 9-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

El Camino has already played their next match, a 55-42 victory against Woodland on the 24th. As for Rosemont, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-19 win against Bradshaw Christian on the 24th.
