Baseball Recap: Skipstone Academy Comes Up Short

Skipstone Academy extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-14 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Lafayette Christian Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in March.

As for Lafayette Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Lafayette Christian's part, David Karvelas made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Karvelas was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josiah Hughes, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Dustin Ogle, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Skipstone Academy will face off against Pinecrest Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Paladins have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. Lafayette Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
