Football Recap: St. Thomas Academy Cadets vs. Mahtomedi Zephyrs
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Thomas Academy). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Mahtomedi Zephyrs 52-7 at home. Given the Cadets' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Zephyrs are ranked 140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Thomas Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Young, who rushed for 34 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 11 yards and a touchdown. Another back making a difference was Ari Tobias, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
St. Thomas Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Charles Probst with two sacks. Another thorn in Mahtomedi's side was Mason Pfannenstein, who made 14 total tackles.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Thomas Academy will head out to take on Robbinsdale Armstrong at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mahtomedi, they will venture away from home to challenge Tartan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
