Football Recap: Mira Monte Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mcfarland + How To Watch

Mira Monte had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They snuck past the McFarland Cougars with a 27-21 victory on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

It was another big night for Nathan Gonzales, who rushed for 181 yards. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 20th straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mira Monte was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Despite the loss, McFarland still got an impressive performance from Malachi Davis, who rushed for 85 yards and one score, and also threw for 250 yards on 21 of 33 attempts. Victor Rodriguez also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.

Mira Monte's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for McFarland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Coming up, Mira Monte will head out on the road to square off against Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Gonzales and Andrew Trevino. McFarland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
