Softball Game Preview: Montgomery County Wildcats vs. Warrenton Warriors

The Montgomery County Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Warrenton Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Montgomery County has four straight victories, Warrenton has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

It was a proper cat-fight when Montgomery County duked it out with Palmyra on Saturday. The Wildcats walked away with a 5-2 win over the Panthers.

Reese Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Montgomery County let Sam Turner and Anna Klekamp run wild. Turner went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Klekamp went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Warrenton's offense. They lost 11-0 to Winfield on Thursday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which Warrenton was not able to get on the board.

Warrenton's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Montgomery County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Montgomery County took their win against Warrenton when the teams last played back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
